Apollo Fire Detectors manufacture industrial fire detectors which are shipped to 80 countries worldwide at the rate of 300 - 400 shipments each month.
Having used i2i software for export documentation since 1998, first the DOS based system and later GTA Connect, the Windows based desk top solution, it was a natural progression to move on to GTA Net, the latest browser based software from i2i.
In February 2010 Apollo won the Exporter of the Year award for the third year running at the Portsmouth News Business Awards.

Apollo Fire Detectors had been using i2i software to produce their export documentation since 1998 so when in 2008, they decided to install a new business system, Microsoft Dynamics AX, it was a natural decision to decide to upgrade their export documentation system to the latest i2i browsed based software, GTA Net. A key part of the decision was that, unlike earlier systems which had been used stand alone, the new system should be interfaced with Dynamics AX to minimise the amount of manual entry required and provide an AX driven solution.
i2i worked closely with the Dynamics AX implementor to agree what data would be sent to GTA Net, and to establish what of their exisiting GTA Connect functionality would be required in the new system. It was found that previous bespoke functionality was no longer required which simplified the implementation.
Project management is a key part of the service provided by i2i when implementing GTA Net. Careful planning and good communication with the customer and the business system supplier ensures that the needs of all parties are met and that the installation is carried out on time.

Bentley Parts and Accessories distribute parts to their dealer network worldwide. To meet the delivery standards expected of the business, export shipments are sent by road, sea and air.
i2i has been working in partnership with Bentley since 1990 to provide export documentation software solutions which meet the exacting demands of the Bentley business. In 2008 Bentley went live with their 3rd generation of i2i product.

A growing business, in excess of 1,000 export shipments each week, and a new warehouse opened in March 2008, lead Bentley to decided that a new export system based on browser technology would save time and cost in the shipping department.
With such high volumes Bentley chose i2i's GTA Net which could be customised if necessary to fit their business processes. GTA Net is interfaced with the Bentley business system importing shipment information into GTA Net to minimise data re-keying. Initially GTA Net was implemented to create a range of SITPRO export documents, Intrastat reporting with electronic submissions to Customs, and various bespoke documents and pack labels. An automatic "print on download" function was added for certain shipments.
i2i's close relationship with Bentley will ensure that, since GTA Net is designed to send and receive information from other software and services, the implementation at Bentley will continue to meet the demands of the Bentley business.

In 2011 British Sugar chose the EMCS Online subscription service to fully automate their electronic submissions to HMRC, which are required in order to ship their products in duty suspension in the UK and throughout the EU. With a 24 / 7 operation, automation was key to their business process, so interfacing with their Oracle system was a fundamental part of the requirement.

i2i used our e-z Mapper software to manage the transfer of data from Oracle which is used to create EMCS submissions by the administration staff during office hours. The EMCS Online service manages the data received from Oracle, validates the data and submits to HMRC when required. Once accepted for despatch the service emails the eAD to the warehouse, to be printed out by the warehouse staff.

Britvic sell billions of litres of soft drinks in hundreds of different flavours, shapes and sizes and delivers to over 4,000 customers with 200,000 points of distribution. SAP is used to manage the business and the GTA Online service handles the creation and distribution of export documents.
Customer Service Manage at Britvic commented that "GTA Online is very fast and really good value for money".

Growth in Britvic's business, which includes international shipments to over 50 countries worldwide, has led to changes in working practices and business systems. In 1999 Britvic were using BPCS as their business system and chose i2i's GTA Connect, interfaced with BPCS, to manage the creation of their export documentation.
As the business grew, BPCS was replaced with SAP but it was decided that the functionality provided by GTA Connect was still necessary and so the SAP IDOCS were use to create an interface to GTA Connect.
Britvic were happy with GTA Connect and the service provided by i2i so in 2008 they decided that additional business benefits could be achieved by moving to the GTA Online service. The SAP IDOC interface file is now sent to the GTA Online service where documents can be created and distributed. Additionally Britvic send data directly to e-Cert using the eXpress service to obtain Certificates of Origin online.
Connecting these services has enabled Britvic to key the data once and use it many times during the lifecycle of an export shipment.

The Bruichladdich distillery on the island of Islay was built in 1881 and re-opened in 2001 after a 7 year shutdown.
In 2008 the new business, which carries out distilling and storage of scotch whisky and bottling and distribution, needed to replace its manual systems. TROPOS was chosen to manage the business with TROPOS data sent to the GTA Online service to manage export documents.
read article
Bruichladdich were in the process of implementing TROPOS when the GTA Online service was implemented, which enabled i2i to work with Solarsoft to ensure that as much data as possible was sent to GTA to establish a "host driven" solution.
Industry specific documents required by distillers, such as the T8 and AAD, were reviewed with Solarsoft to establish in which system they should be produced. The decision was that, since the data for the W8 was held in TROPOS, the document would be produced from that system whilst the AAD was better managed from GTA Online. This kind of close relationship between software suppliers ensures that a fully automated solution is achieved.
In addition to SITPRO export documents GTA Online provides Bruichladdich with the ability to send data to e-Cert to enable Certificates of Origin to be obtained online and also manages their Intrastat returns sending data electronically to Customs. In 2010 when the new EMCS service is introduced by Customs, GTA Online will be updated to ensure that those businesses affected by this change, will have access to an up to date service.

In 2011 Culpitt selected GTA Online interfaced with their Sage business system, to replace their ExportPro export documentation system. With over 100 shipments per month they needed a system which could produce a range of SITPRO/UN style export documents and avoid data re-keying where possible.

Culpitt pay a monthly subscription for GTA Online based on the volume of shipments they process each month, they send data to their e-z Cert account to obtain Certificates of Origin and EUR1 documents, and user support from i2i's helpdesk is included in the subscription, so there are no hidden extra charges.

For Eastland Compounding exporting was not a huge part of their business, but the need to produce accurate shipping documents including Dangerous Goods Notes, was still a time consuming activity.
Eastland decided to take a simple subscription to standard GTA Online which would simply create export documents and manage their Intrastat returns.
read article
The implementation of GTA Online at Eastland Compounding for their 20 shipments per month, was a straightforward process which involved 1 day onsite training and process review to ensure that the system setup was right for their business, and to get the user up and running.
GTA Online is used as a "stand alone" system so data is keyed and stored in GTA and profiles are used to create and manage individual shipments. This simple method of using GTA Online is ideal for the current level of business and if exports increase, then an interface to their busienss system and modules such as e-Cert, NES and 3rd Party Access can be switched on. In the mean time Eastland Compounding have the security of knowing that GTA Online will always be up to date with the latest statutory requirements.
